Let Go of the Weight of Your Mistakes
Sabrina Caldera | NOV 3, 2025
Sometimes life throws us curveballs and we don’t react the way we hoped we would.
Sometimes we show up with the best of intentions and still fall short.
Sometimes we forget every breathing technique, every calming tool—and all we can do is scream, cry, or try to numb.
And then the guilt sinks in.
I’ve learned over the years that there’s little value in sitting in the grief or disappointment of our mistakes. The only way to move past them is to keep moving—even when it looks messy, uncertain, or a little forced.
We don’t have to have it all figured out. Life keeps going, and so must we.
When I’ve been stuck in that rut, my instinct is often to guilt-trip myself into oblivion—to replay everything I said or did wrong until I’m spiraling. But that only keeps me trapped in shame and negative self-talk.
Instead, let’s start with the basics.
Acknowledge where you are.
Ask yourself: What’s the next gentle step forward?
Sometimes it’s getting out of bed.
Sometimes it’s washing the dishes.
Sometimes it’s calling a therapist.
It always starts with sitting honestly with yourself—and choosing one small, compassionate step toward healing.
Accept that the mistake was made.
Give yourself grace.
Take the first step you need to today.
In yoga philosophy, Aparigraha (non-grasping) invites us to loosen our grip—on outcomes, on perfection, and on the past. When we stop clinging to the story of “I should have,” we create space for peace, clarity, and growth.
So breathe.
Relax your shoulders.
You are not alone in this practice of letting go.
If you’re ready to soften the noise and return to your breath, join my free weekly meditation. It’s a gentle space to ground, reset, and begin again.
